Im buying the final parts for my new build and looking at powerboost options. I will need to power a pi zero, hdmi screen, usb gamepad and usb hub. would I get away with using a 500c or should I cough up the extra for 1000. I understand there are some limitations in terms of charging but will I be able to draw enough current for my needs?
thanks sudomoders

might be pushing it with an HDMI screen. the 500c can supply more than 500mA
in fact if the battery is good for it, it will supply 1000ma (at 5V. remember 1A at 5V is more like 1.3A at the 3.7v the battery supplies to generate 1A @ 5V)

you could get away with the Generic PSU (Banggood)....

(if you've done the mods to the HDMI board, then defienately it should be ok)

but if you want something thats gonna give you no hassles...
then opt for Helder PSU...

I appreciate that at around $25, its most probably gonna end up being the most expensive thing in the build

but you do get the benefit of something that can easily provide all the power you need
(as well as on-screen battery monitor, safe shutdown button, and if you omit the USB hub/gamepad you could also have controls and a analog stick)

i've also seen someone use one of these in their build (personally have no experience of it)....

(i cant find the build post now, but its in here somewhere)

Hey vet! Yeah I’m waiting on my screen from China which should be here any day so I’d rather not order anything else that’s going to take a while to arrive which is why i was looking at the power boost. Does Helders have the safe shutdown built in then? Apart from the screen all i need to finish off my build is psu and a battery....

you could trying sourcing the Generic Power Supplys from the UK via eBay, you pay more for it but it wont take as long
(just make sure when ordering that the seller is actually UK based)

if you buy from Helder, just message him before hand as its the Holidays over there...
(but hes sent me items that have only took around a week or so, and so will this)

You could try GamingGalaxy as he now has some RetroPSU's and the MegaBat batteries and he's in the UK.
