Gearbest Screen won't turn on
Gearbest Screen won't turn on
Hi, I was able to turn on the screen on once and retropie was running smoothly and fine but then I powered it off by just flipping the switch, and after that only the powerboost and raspberry pi turns on. The screen stays black, and on the screen motherboard the part labeled '220' is the only thing that gets hot (throwing this out there, not sure if this is useful information). I'd appreciate any help.

Re: Gearbest Screen won't turn on
Swap the Yellow and White wires (Pi Zero end)...
You’ve got the AV signal wire (yellow)
Hooked up to the GND on the Pi Zero (and visa versa)
It might be easier to just swap them over on the screens board
(Not sure if you threaded them through the Pi Zero before soldering)
NB: the Pi Zero is a little misleading...
As it has TV right next to the GND instead of it being next to the AV signal....

Re: Gearbest Screen won't turn on
yeah, so it looks like he is following tinkeryboys wiring guide, where the white and black wires are attached together and connected to ground(https://www.tinkerboy.xyz/wp-content/up ... G_2339.jpg). The way you have it wired currently, like Veteran said is opposite. The yellow wire needs to move to the other side....But as it stands now, you are grounding the signal wire....Which hopefully did no damage the signal pin......
On the note of the screen board getting hot, I actually have the exact same issue at the moment, (my screen was connected properly), and it ran fine for about 10 minutes. Then just went blank, that is when I noticed that it was getting very very hot. Like hot enough to burn, unfortunately, I think i just received a dud screen...Which you may have as well.
Just to clarify, the way you have it wired in the pictures, I see no way how it would have ever worked. Was it wired the same way when you said you had it running? Sure it will be powered, but you will never see a picture how it is wired. Regardless, if it is getting really hot, it is probably toast. But change the wiring and see how it goes.
