I got a 23mm speaker for a gbc/a from aliexpress.
It's a bit fiddly but i'll manage to hot glue it into the dmg case.
It's 8 ohms and it says 1 watt.
However, the speaker is really quiet. I bring it to my ear and it isnt even as loud as earbuds.
When i connect it to a PAM8403 unit at low volumes i can barely hear it (because its probably for headphones i guess) and when i turn it up it just starts clicking. This is probably because of the volume, its litteraly clipping, phisically i mean.
I also tried a speaker from a broken tablet and the same thing happened.
Is the pam8403 to strong for these speakers?
They seem loud enough on peoples builds on youtube. And the speakers in phones and tablets arent at all quiet.
Any solutions?
Is my speaker quiet by design? (Did i buy a wrong type?)
Re: Is my speaker quiet by design? (Did i buy a wrong type?)
I just figured it out, at least most of it. I bridged the negatives of the left and right outputs and i read somewhere on this forum that it shouldnt be done like that, so unsoldering the bridge fixed it.
Additionaly, when i put the speaker in the case and hold it with my finger it sounds acceptably loud.
I just have to find that post to see how to connect both channels to one speaker.
Next problem is how to lessen the clicking/popping/clipping of the speaker. I'm kinda okay with that since the music and sounds from the old games arent "hi res".
