Charger Melting Hot Glue

Post by murrman92 » Fri Jan 04, 2019 7:45 am

The subject says it. I currently don't have a cartridge in place. I have my "GearBest" circuit board hot glued in that opening. When I plug it in to charge, the heat transfer from the outlet ends up melting the hot glue I've used to hold it in place. I've been thinking of mounting the charging circuit in a 3D printed cartridge and adding a fan as the whole unit heats up with extended play. I don't see the fan helping with my charger melting off the case though. Any suggestions?

yeah, those chargers do get hot, and sometimes melt the glue I have noticed. I usually use a strip of 3m VHB tape on the bottom and a bit of glue. I have never had one get hot enough to actually fall off. You could also consider putting a small heatsink on it as well.
