Hello guys.

Long story short, after 2 years of having the parts for a GBZ, i finally started one build.
I'm using a combination of a suposed working alternative for the HUB and a USB sound card.
But this combination of parts are not working at all, it does not even detects my keyboard.. and the soundcard does not light up (it should if was working..)

Anyone faced similar problems? (since its 2016/17 parts) Any help would be great...

below the parts

PS: All parts work great in windows. Have flash inumerous retropie images to the sd card, always the same problems.. Oh, and killed 2 wifi dongles XD

If it works just fine on Windows as you said then there's no reason it shouldn't work on RetroPie(Linux) too. Unless it's a driver software issue. Do you have a different usb hub you can test on your Raspberry Pi?

Also, have you considered not using the USB hub, you could just install a switch between external USB and the sound card. Flip the switch to the USB side when you need to connect a USB device, flip it back when you want sound. Unless you have other things that need USB, a hub isn't really necessary.

You could also consider just using an i2s amp from adafruit, which won't use the USB at all.

Hi. Yes i have 2 ubs that actually work. One is a usb 3.0 hub... But for some wird reason the ones i bought to use in the builds none of them (were 5 total) works..

Today i was searching for a solution or alternatives. And yeah maybe i can ignore usb ubs, use a i2c dac for sound and gpios for controls. But i must check if i have gpios left for controls, using some of them to i2c sound...

I was planning to use the leonardo pro for controller and its adc to power monitor, which takes 1 usb, the usb sound card taking a 2nd slot, and a third to exterior use (add a wifi or bt dongles).

Do you have a link to those non-working usb hubs you bought? You could try upgrading your retropie otherwise it's a compatibility issue.

I also tried other type of hubs, which the micro controller hub is with that round black epoxy over it. They dont work also.
I'll disassemble them and take pics later

Non-working USB HUBS: And probably all that are look alike

Working HUB 2.0
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-HUB ... 56563.html

Working HUB 3.0
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Brand-n ... 78823.html

By the way, i have tested some power supply options (untested so far in wiki), and they are crap. Dont even step up voltage, placed a dummy load, input voltage 5v goes 4.6V to battery.. omg!!

I've used those power supplies before. They work okay. What i found, and can be seen in the product description and pics, you need to trigger the key pad to turn on the output. So I put a tactile switch between key and ground. Press the button, then the output turn on.

Not ideal, but I bought a bunch of those too to test, and ended up using them all.
