No audio from speaker from TinkerBOY 2.2

I'm not getting audio out of the speaker from my TinkerBOY 2.2. I *am* getting audio from the headphones though, and the volume wheel DOES work (of course just when using headphones). So that tells me that the wiring between the Pi and the TinkerBOY should be correct, and the wiring between the volume potentiometer and the TinkerBOY should be correct as well.
I think I can also say with confidence that it's not a software issue since - again - the headphone jack works. I'm using the TinkerBOY Retropie image from
https://www.tinkerboy.xyz/retropie-sdca ... r-support/ if that matters.
The wiring seems pretty straight forward and my solder joints look good...and I've verified everything with a multimeter so I don't think it's wiring. But I'm attaching some pictures for review. If anybody needs any other pictures, of course just let me know!

What I've tried:
- I've de-soldered / re-soldered everything
- I tried wiring the speaker to the "SR-" and SR+" pads instead of the "SL+" and "SL-" pads on the TinkerBOY. No change.
- I've swapped multiple power supplies, including a known good 5V. 2.5A power supply.
- I've used two different speakers, so I know it's not the speaker.
I'd hope that I'm not somehow wiring the speaker up wrong? Barring that, I'm kind of at a loss here. Is there anything else anybody can think of? At this point I'm looking at the TinkerBOY unit itself as having an issue, but I'd like to rule anything else out first before I ask to return it. Thanks!

If audio works from the headphones but no audio is coming out of the speaker there's two possible things that might be causing the issue.
1. Headphone jack - The left and right pwm audio from the pi to the low pass filter goes directly to the left and right audio pins of the headphone jack which goes to the audio amp and to the speaker. It's possible but highly unlikely that both of the two left and audio pins of the jack are not connecting to the amp. It's highly possible that one of the two pins is not connecting to the amp but you should still get audio from the speaker.
2. PAM8403 Amp - It's also possible but highly unlikely that both of the left and right audio inputs of the amp have lost the connection to the pcb board. It's highly possible that one of the two audio inputs has lost the connection to the pcb board but again you should still get audio from the speaker.
Check for continuity with a multimeter as indicated in the picture below.

I fully test all boards before shipping but it can be damaged sometime from transit or something.

Also check continuity of the audio inputs of the pam8403 amp like this:

I checked, and all of those connections have continuity between each other, and they're not bridging over into any other pins. I don't have anything wired to that "ANALOG" section at the bottom right though...does that matter?
Now that I think of it, I don't have voltage coming into the TinkerBOY at all. Do I need it for the speaker to work? The only things I have wired are:
PWM0 and PWM1 from the Raspberry Pi, the five pins from the volume wheel, and the two wires out to the speaker.

You need of course to power the board. Below the shoulder pads(L1,L2,R1,R2) on the right side of the board there's the 5v and GND inputs. Connect your power supply or any 5v boost like the powerboost 1000c or Gearbest Powerboost.
There's also the wiring guide for this board at

Holy moly, I'm a doofus. That was it - I wasn't giving the board the 5V. It dawned on me as I was typing my last reply like, "Waaaaaaiiiit a minute!" I was testing the components before final assembly, which is why I didn't have the 5V connected. Thanks much for your help!

You are welcome!

At least it was an easy fix. Good luck with the rest of the build

Hello there guys, I have a similar problem

I have everything working. I used a screen from Amazon but with a display board from the gearbest screen, so no 5v mod

The ABXY, Shoulder buttons, UPLR also work, but not the sound, I have everything wired as the guides from tinkerboy, but no sound

m
am i missing something?

Make sure you have PWM sound enabled
