Hey just got a be screen in and opened it up to notice it’s not on the wiki yet

Any help for a 5v mod will be appreciated

I found this info on them
VCC and GND are the power supply of the display. VCC is the positive supply voltage and GND stands for “ground”. And that SCL and SDA are the data lines of the I2C protocol. SCL stands for Serial Clock and SDA for Serial Data

Would I get a better quality picture if I connect it through those ports? Or if I can even hook up through those at all

You could likely use those pads on the side VCC and Ground, but it likely won't make a difference in quality. As for how to mod it for 5V.

Firstly, did you try just connecting it with 5V power, and seeing if it works?

Second, what I often do, is connect the screen with a 12V power source as intended, and then probe the board with a multimeter to see where I find 5v. Likely it is going to be one of those two eight legged chips that have a leg that outputs 5V, that is where you would solder to.

Third, you can also google the numbers on those chips and can probably find a diagram of the chip with more info on what each of the legs is for.

And....after a quick google search of one of the chip numbers I found this thread:

Looks to have the solution. In the thread they have totally removed the chip. I would leave the ship on, and just solder to the leg, you likely do not have to remove the chip completely.

yep, you do not have to remove the chip, just solder the power to the pin - i've also got this model to work without the 5v mod, but it definitely works at that pin.

someone should add it to the wiki, since i've seen this one get asked at least three or four times now.
