BW 3.5” screen resolution.

Hey all,

Newbie here but I’ve lately started to build a Gameboy DMG Zero.

Everything is going well. And I’ve been able to successfully use a BW 3.5” screen as my display for the build.

I did the usual thing by attaching the a 5v wire to the little chip on the display bird to make it come on and work.

My only issue is that the text on the screen is quite blurry? It’s like the resolution of the screen is really low quality and it kinda makes it hard to read the on screen text.

Any ideas on why this? And/or how to fix said problem? Thanks all! 🤟🏼

That's just the way it is with those composite screens. You can switch the theme to something more suited to a small screen such as GBZ35 by RxBrad (it's the only theme I use actually). You can install it directly from the themes menu in retropie.

You can also adjust the text size in the terminal to be more readable too (only terminal text though, that won't affect the emulation station front end). Just google that. I can't recall off the top of my head.

it's because those screens are just terrible - very low quality. there's not a lot you can do for in-game text. you can increase the system font size to make those easier to read, but that's about it. the gearbest ones are quite a bit better for composite versions, but still not super sharp. if you want something easier to read you're going to have to upgrade to something else: hdmi, spi, or dpi
