Is my powerboost or display dead?

Post by jjj » Thu Nov 24, 2016 12:41 pm

I seem to be having some power issues with my gameboy zero. I had everything wired up and working, but had trouble closing the case so I moved a few things around. Now I encounter the following problem:
  • With nothing but the raspberry pi zero connected to the powerboost 1000c, powered from a 2.4A USB wall charger, the pi boots up fine.
  • With nothing but the adafruit display connected to the powerboost, the display powers on fine.
  • With both the pi and the display connected to the powerboost, every couple of seconds both of the charging LEDs on the powerboost flash quickly on and off once, followed by the blue powerboost power LED, and the display and pi lose power for a fraction of a second, then power back on.
My knowledge of electronics is pretty limited so I'm struggling to diagnose the problem. At a guess I'd say that too much current is being drawn, which trips some sort of safety circuit on the powerboost, but I don't know. Previously everything was working fine so I can only assume that either I have a short somewhere (I'm 99% certain I don't as I have checked and re-checked the connections), or one or more components has been damaged.

Any help or direction with how I can diagnose and fix the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
