Custom handheld from scratch
Custom handheld from scratch
I want to take this from my imagination and turn it into a reality. Unfortunately, I'm still very unknowledgeable when it come's to much of what it would take to do so. It's my hope that member's of the forum might be able to help guide me in my quest to build this. Any thought's or idea's would be appreciated.

The PiGRRL Zero project from Adafruit seems very much like the project you are describing:

I haven't been active for a while. I periodically check the forum and blog for interesting projects, but don't post very much.
Re: Custom handheld from scratch
After some searching I found two site's I think everyone might enjoy.
http://bitbuilt.net/ & http://bitfixgaming.boards.net/ both seem geared toward modding and might offer some new idea's for people.
The second site had this post http://bitfixgaming.boards.net/thread/9 ... 2-portable which got me thinking that vacuum forming might be what I want to do for my case.
After re-watching Wermy's videos on his GBZ build I think I have a good idea of most of the components that I'll need. Those being 1.audio board 2.audio amplifier 3. teensy 4.arduino 5.usb hub 6.power board
Depending on the final size I want the case I'm hoping to fit a Pi 3 in it.
If I've missed anything that might be needed or if anyone has any idea's on alternate parts please leave a replay.
