I'm hoping someone can help me. I have built a NESPI using my childhood Nintendo and a Raspberry Pi 2. I have a Shutdown Circuit from Mausberry wired in as well as a 7 port usb hub.
My issue is with power. I often get the rainbow square in the corner of my screen. I am not sure what is wrong. I am not an expert at this stuff, but I thought I knew enough to get this right.
Here's the situation. I have a DC Barrel Jack plug mounted in the back of my case. To the terminals on the inside of the case, I have soldered 2 positive and 2 negative cables (see pics for close up). One set goes via an old Micro USB cable I cut in half to the Raspberry Pi (through the Mausberry Pi circuit board). One set goes to the USB Hub. I check the voltage at the barrel jack input to the case. I get 5.2v. But when I check at the 2 terminals on the raspberry pi (that I saw online is the place to check the voltage), I get 2.99v. Not sure why that is.
I tried attaching a blackberry charger directly to the raspberry pi directly. I get less rainbow square appearances when I do this. But not none. When I check the voltage on the Rasberry Pi itself, it gives me a 3.2v. Better, but nowhere near 5v. Not sure what is with that.
Hopefully someone can help.

Why not try to power the Pi with just the usb cable from the DC barrel? Skip the safe shutdown board for now to be sure that isn't causing the problems, also check the voltage at the end of the cable so you know if 5v is getting to the Pi usb socket.

I checked the voltage at the end of the micro usb cable. Still getting 5.15v. Then I checked on the Micro USB Power terminal on the Rasp Pi. It was reading 4.96v. At the same time, I rechecked the terminals where you check it on the rasp pi at it read 3.1v. It was actually up from yesterday (I have no idea why) and was actually running basically normal. I also tried without the mausberry shutdown circuit at it made no difference in the voltage. I also tried the voltage with the usb hub unplugged. No difference.
This is my only Raspberry Pi. Do they normally read a lower voltage on the voltage test pins?
