LCD board help convert to 5V

Post by Pirate » Sun Nov 06, 2016 8:58 am

Hello everyone I could really use some help I been trying to figure out how to convert this LCD board to 5V but I can't find an answer.
Here's the picture of the board itself

ALSO: here's the link where I bought it (it was really nice well packaged and also the screen doesnt come glued to the case so it was easy to remove) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-5-Inc ... 04646.html

Thank you in advance.

According to the wiki, you have a variant 7 screen.
You need to solder a wire from the areas I marked in red:

It could be that it still does NOT work after that. If that is the case, you actualy need to desolder that chip (the one with the marked pin) and solder a wire to the same marked area.
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to inform you that I am currently moving very far away, and therefore I am very busy.

UPDATE: I am still alive! My ISP is setting up my internet on the 19th of January at my new place, explaining my offline-ness.

If you write me a PM, I will very likely take some time to respond.

Also, my 2nd build will soon go on, so if you've been following it, please stay tuned! :)

Many thanks for your understanding!

Will you use it with Retropie? If yes, does that work out of the box?

Yes there is a huge community dedicated on porting Retropie on to the OPI and right now we have a stable release and it works perfectly right out of the box here's the facebook group for the RetroOrangePi
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1131759626884432/

ALSO: they made an official forums where you can download the right version for your board.

Cheers!

Oh, cool! :)

(Correct me if I am wrong), but as I am seeing correctly it is an old version of Retropie, right? Are there any versions that keep up with the latest release?
