After or before the teensy?
Ive wired up the teensy to my pcb. I dont have a multimeter to test any connections so i just plugged it all into the pi and tested on retropie. Its all recognised and from what i can tell they are the only to buttons not working. I think its probably my soldering...

Well, without a multimeter it is hard to check for soldering errors.
You really should get one, it's not that expensive. It saves a lot of time and a lot of soldering, desoldering and resoldering stuff :)

+1 This. It will save you hours of frustration.

Here is the one I own. It is cheap at $16 and well worth it. Amazon

There are cheaper ones around $8 and they work great. The one I have has a "test for continuity" beep that I am super fond of though.

Mine was 10,50€, the PEAKTECH 1070.
Whatever you buy, make sure it can test for continuity. This is really helpful.
