Wii U Gamepad RP3 build

I'm building what, I have been delighted to find, is a reality popular build: that being the Wii U gamepad. I bought a shell to put it in and it came with the cradle charging port. I was wondering if I could reuse that bit? If so, does anyone know how it wires in to the power loop? Also, does anyone out there know if the "expanpansion port" that Nintendo never used can be removed and replaced with a microSD card slot extension from the Pi?

Any help in these two areas would be appreciated.

Also, is there a way to hook the sync button and make it do stuff.
