Post by tlxxxsracer » Thu Jul 13, 2017 5:43 pm

Im switching screens from gearbest to BW variant 9. Now I have no video. Was following the wiring guide which used GB screen in the example
Wasn't sure if I attach both white or yellow to the video pin on the pi.

Here's my wiring

Power strip, picture 2 lower right corner, it looks like your ground and 5v are on the same circuit. Also, shorten up the copper on the ok we pads on the Pi. They're too long and if they touch you will short your board.

That wiring hasn't changed with my other screen, hadn't had an issue with those

Have you tested the voltage on the screen driver board?

Video
- you just need to connect one video wire to the tv pin on the pi. Disconnect the white.

Power
- looks like your screen is being powered by the 3.3v on the pi but you connected it to the 5v pin on the screen chip.
- Try to connect a 5v power supply to it instead.
- desolder the red wire on the lcd board and just directly solder it where you soldered the purple wire.

Before you do that send a picture of the chip where you soldered the purple so we can check if it's a 5v regulator.

There's probably a 3.3v regulator there too.

I didn't catch that both the white and yellow are soldered together on the same hole. That would definitely do it as well.

I was gauging my wiring off this

So basically just run the 5v wire on the screen to my power strip instead of the pi?

It doesn't really matter where you connect the 5v power whether from the pi or directly from the power supply/strip. I just prefer to connect directly to the power supply.

Resolved. Wired power directly to the power strip, unsoldered the white wire and also took off the purple wire to the chip on the screen board and it came up just fine. Interesting

I just got the same screen and wired it like this. But nothing. What was your final wiring?
