Best type of buttons and sticks for a larger custom build?

Post by thereuben » Thu Jul 27, 2017 2:39 pm

Hi
I'm in the middle of a custom build using a RPi3 and a 10" panel. I will be playing both retro games, as well as streaming games from my PC via Moonlight.

My current head-scratcher is deciding what type of inputs I want to use. I really want to get the best feel, and as close to a real controller as possible. (ie like a xbox one controller)
My battery pack made of 4x 18650, so the device will be about 26-30 mm in total.

1. What is better?.. Tactile switch buttons or common ground pcb buttons?

2. What are some good analogue sticks? Should I go for full size sticks, or are the PSP-style ones better for a slim profile?

3. I'll want to add more buttons than the Teensy 2.0 or LC can handle. What board is the best larger board for this; Teensy++ 2.0 or 3.2?

Thanks
