Removing the ic chip on original controller board
Removing the ic chip on original controller board
So the black piece that I have to take off of the original controller board got stripped on my first attempt and I can no longer get a good grip on it with anything. Anybody know any other method then the glob of solder since I burned myself last time I tried that way.

Hot air rework station or the ghetto way use a paint heat gun (looks like hair dryer) to heat the board up then it'll come off easy.

Re: Removing the ic chip on original controller board
If I'm not concerned about the area, I tend to use a dremel cutting wheel to remove the ic and then desolder wick to clean up.robopanda wrote:So the black piece that I have to take off of the original controller board got stripped on my first attempt and I can no longer get a good grip on it with anything.
