Removing the ic chip on original controller board

Post by robopanda » Sun Jun 19, 2016 12:48 pm

So the black piece that I have to take off of the original controller board got stripped on my first attempt and I can no longer get a good grip on it with anything. Anybody know any other method then the glob of solder since I burned myself last time I tried that way.

Hot air rework station or the ghetto way use a paint heat gun (looks like hair dryer) to heat the board up then it'll come off easy.

Don't contact me about obtaining my board files (as you will not get them). If my Boards or PCB Kits are sold out, they will be restocked as soon as I can get them and there is demand for them. You can join the mailing list on my Website to be notified when they are available.

I removed it with pliers, I don't need the little chip so I just pried it out

If I'm not concerned about the area, I tend to use a dremel cutting wheel to remove the ic and then desolder wick to clean up.
