Busted gameboy slide switch

Post by skrapps914 » Mon Jun 20, 2016 12:54 am

Broke mine pretty bad trying to take it off the gameboy board. Tried to see if it still worked and it doesn't. Anyone know of a good replacement switch that'll fit the same?

I ordered a few from eBay. Haven't had time to try them yet, but i am pretty sure they are working, even if they need trimming.
I can try them out later that day and if you are located in the EU, i can mail you one as a replacement, if you want.
Or give you the link, if you prefer to get a few more to be safe.

I was looking on eBay but I can't tell which are too small or too big. I live in the US, but if you try the switch out and lmk I can buy it off eBay.

Thanks for your help man much appreciated

I bought a few (based in the uk) I didn't have an issue with them being to big, as you can trim them down.
The issue I have had is the travel of the switch isn't as long as the original gameboy. So when fitted, the switch doesn't slide as far in the case as it should.
It's not an issue really as the switch still works, but it annoys me it doesn't go the full distance.

I picked up one of these on a whim when buying some other items for my project. It's only a buck, and looks like it'll work. I haven't gotten that far in my build yet, so can't say for sure, though. Worth a dollar gamble (if you're getting anything else from Adafruit and can bundle that in, so you don't pay 5 times the money in shipping than you do for the product itself.

I took a look at this and then measured the gameboy one up against a quarter and it made me see how much smaller the adafruit switch is.

I ended up going with this one, gonna see how it works out when it comes
