Looking for a Gameboy Micro shell
I'm looking for a Gameboy Micro shell. I don't seem to be able to find any on the web. I'm interested in doing a Pi Zero version in one. The original consoles on ebay seem to go for too high a price so has anyone found a place that sells cheap housings please?

Re: Looking for a Gameboy Micro shell
Dimensions of a micro:
101x50×17.2 mm
stripped down pi zero:65x30x5 mm
control board: 2mm
lcd: 3mm
battery: 4mm
wiring: 2mm
case thickness: dremmelled down where needed
What am I missing for thickness from this list that would mean it wouldn't fit? Perhaps you mean because of the slightly curved parts? And if so, why couldn't a micro case be extended to be a bit thicker with a 3D printed 'sandwich' section in the middle to hide any gap?
I'm talking about a replacement plastic housing too, obviously not a metal one.

Re: Looking for a Gameboy Micro shell
what are you gonna do for x and y? shoulder buttons? sound board? speaker? battery?
i'm not saying it can't be done, but i'm afraid you'd have to cut so many corners and compromise on so many things that you most likely wont end up with something that's satisfactory compared to a regular old gbz.

Re: Looking for a Gameboy Micro shell
Well the point of getting a housing was to work out the arrangement of parts and see what I could and couldn't put in. I don't own a micro or I'd have ripped it apart and had a look by now. Sure, it may not work at all but I wanted to try. There's only so much I can tell from the ifixit teardown images I saw. I can design and 3D print any parts needed, buttons, etc. If I can't find a housing I might have to buy an original if I can find one cheap enough.

cheapest one i could find is this, looks like crap though:

replacement shells don't seem to be a thing for the gbm, but honestly, just judging from the pics i don't think yourt plan is even close to doable. i'd be thrilled though if you could prove me wrong...

sheesh, it even says "location: Bristol" right under your name, how dumb of me (very nice city btw, been there a couple times, last time as a stop-over on my way to banksy's dismaland). i'll keep a look-out, if i ever see a cheap gbm i'll let you know. i've been hunting for play it loud gameboys recently and had quite some success with japanese ebay sellers, you should look into that for the gbm.

Look at this.... it's 3D printed but very close to the original GBM.
