For fun! Plus, with emulation as it is it's nice to be able to play a multitude of classics with one - portable! - device. It's also a nice way of introducing older games to my son (coming up 7 next year) without having to plonk him in front of an ancient console. He loves my old Gameboy Pocket, so this step feels natural.
Show him that not all games need to be on a playstation.
