So I managed to buy one of his builds and the work and time that he put in to build these just shocks me he was kinf enough to send me an extra PCB board from his build and I just have to give the guy props here's some pictures.
He managed to fit a RP3, battery metter tester, HDMI screen, big battery + you can still use 4 AA batteries if you like all inside the gameboy.

Awesome.
I've been in contact with him about buying one but haven't actually done it as yet.
He sent me a link to an ended eBay item but not sure his English is great.
Was this the same for you @pirate? Ive also got his PayPal.
So it looks like the RPi3 is not de-soldered at all.
Looks like the screen connects directly to the gpio pins on his AIO, nice.

One thing that I asked him is that there's no pad for L2R2 just L,R

I think he creates listings by demand so I've mailed him back and asked if he's selling more.
Will definitely get one if he does.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think he connects his PCB directly to the GPIO's of the Pi3.
So, what you have to do is simply connect the tactile buttons to the gpio and code them accordingly...
