Best emulation handheld? (Besides GBZ)
Best emulation handheld? (Besides GBZ)
Mine is the PSP. After my game boy zero build didn't really work, and the fact that the gameboy shape kinda lost its appeal, I realalized at that point I just wanted an emulation handheld. I did some research, and then bought a slim PSP. What are your thoughts on my choice? Do you have an emulation handheld yourself?

I was tempted to buy one recently. Does it emulate well? How does it cope with N64, Ps1 etc?PotaTox wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2017 5:04 pmMine is the PSP. I also like the look of the Wii U gamepad but a tad more pricey and more worm.
Assuming you can install Retroarch directly onto PSP??

i'm not aware that you can get Retroarch to work, as most emulators run independently on the PSP (my experience) but you have to enable it to run homebrew for them to work
i know PS1 isnt a real issue, some games were ported to the psp by sony....
N64 apparently runs (i havent tested myself) and most of the other consoles will work fine (NES, SNES, SEGA)
for me (as the PSP is mine, owned since 2005) i just wanted some classic arcade games... Mame doesnt run that well, but i have CPS1 & 2 which work flawlessly

i did get my son a JXD s7800b a few years back, and even though he just uses it as a android tablet, it runs emulators alot better than a PSP
i've got Mame, SNES, PC Engine and Dreamcast on it and all run pretty much flawlessly.... plus the screen on it is great, either for viewing videos or playing games...

Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge... possibly the best port of the game on home consoles (Dreamcast)

Hmmm.... I've heard a lot of good things about the JXD but not seen one in real life yet. the scaling looks a bit meh on the SF II X shot there though. glad DC (reicast?) works well on it.

my phone camera doesnt do it justice, surprisingly for me the best feature of the JXD is the screen (especially when we bought it and compared it to the ipads we had)... its still great a video/movie viewer (clear and crisp)
its not a bad handhled.... but the only negative is that you cant update the firmware (were on 4.4 android)

I have a GPD XD, and it's pretty awesome. I like the clamshell design and it's super comfortable. Emulates about anything up through N64 (and even a few Dreamcast and Gamecube games). DS as well.

Probably the Pandora, until the Pyra is released later this year. They're much more expensive than a GBZ though.

I had an Nvidia Shield Portable that I recently sold. It was great for emulation up to the Dreamcast era. I just didn't like the feel of it. I have thought about getting a GCW Zero, but will pass on that for now until my Circuit Sword build is done next year at least.

I prefer PSP. It's fine for everything made before 1993.
I'm a having a lot of fun on this site. Every guy can read about fancasino virtual games there. This is pretty cool. I'm playing there daily.
