How to tell battery polarity?

Post by sadbumblebee » Thu Aug 06, 2020 2:12 pm

Thought this would be covered, but I saw some warnings on checking polarity of the connections before using a battery... How does one know? Is it printed on this back? Is it written against the PCB?

Thanks for the assistance!

Red is live + / black is negative -
It’s also written on the back of your battery: the + is above the red wire, the - above the black wire.

Where you need to take care is on the jst connector plug. All of the jst connector leads I’ve bought have the polarity reversed compared to Kites Circuit boards. So when I attach my red battery lead to my red jst connector lead it sits on the black - negative side of the connector on Kites boards. I push the pins out of the jst plug and swap them over to make the polarity the right way around. Basically the red wire should always go to the + side on the circuit board.
