I got this months ago when it first came out. I finally got time and tried to put it together but when I flip the power switch nothing happens I'm pretty sure everything else is is working as the screen comes on when I hit the power button directly on the board. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe can I buy a new switch from Kite?
also I did break that black piece on the board that connects the screen doe any one know what I need to buy and where so I can eventually fix it?

As long as you still have that black piece, use it like it's not broken and it'll work fine.. more awkward but it does still work.
As for the switch, upload a picture of how you have connected it all. I'm assuming you have connected the FPC AND the little cable that links the boards together to the power switch board

Thanks for the help and please let me know what you think Kite!
Also when I press the power button on the board should the Gameboy stay on or should it turn off a little after I let go?

If you 'hold' it, it should stay on.. as soon as you release the button it will start a safe shutdown.
The switch board, you can see has some labelled pins (MODE, PWR, GND). Can you use a multimeter between PWR and GND, when the switch is 'off' it'll have no continuity, and when 'on' it should be shorted together.
I'd imagine you would need a new power switch board, send me an email and I'll send you one for the cost of postage
