So, long story long... bought a couple SAIO boards during the last shipment before the Circuit Sword came out. I just got around to building them and the first one went off without a hitch... zero problems whatsoever. Classic GB theme and it turned out great. On to build number two. I’m going to build one for my brother, orange front, black back. I get the soldering done up to the first test and everything seems fine but no green status light on boot. NBD, I rework the SD solder and it fires right up, this time, FAIL on every usb device. Try to rework usb solder many times, then try to disassemble using just my soldering iron and rip a usb and two SD contact rings out of the SAIO. So bummed... I have a Circuit Sword waiting, but I really want to get this thing done before I move on.

TLDR: I’m a big dummy... Kite, if you see this, is there any way I can buy just a new SAIO board? If you even have any around anymore that is; or any other board I could make use of this screen and all these brackets and whatnot with? I don’t need anything but the board and maybe a couple Pins for the GPIO. If not I totally understand.

It MIGHT be possible to save your current one, the caveat being you would have the use the Pi SD slot, not the one on the SAIO.. what I have done for returned customer boards is to unsolder the USB port on the Pi itself, and solder small jumper wires from the SMD USB pads (they are very very small) and wire them to the back of the 'USB' connector (the 4pin one that is used for the Pi3 build, but works here) as it's the same pins on the SAIO.

Before doing that it would be worthwhile checking with a multimeter that there are no shorts on the USB lines..

As you can tell i've made improvements in recent products because this was the trickiest bit of the build!
