So will the Liter energy 482953 3.7V 850mAH 503050 / Li-ion battery for mp3 mp4 work from Aliexpress? I'm in the US and would buy say 20 of what ever batteries will work to make it easier for everyone to get in the US and not have to wait 4-6 weeks to get in the mail. So please let me know what is the best option. Thanks

Just to contribute:

This is the battery I used: 750mah. Shipped from within the US.

I only removed the hdmi and two usb connectors. And still used L/R buttons

Here you go, a few pics as a reference.

An image of the device open. note the orientation of the battery. Especially the fact that the top of the battery is facing the top if the case, since the top back case is slightly curved and the top of the battery with the charge protection is thinner.

An image of the pi zero w board from the side. You can see at the left side the bulky power regulator and below it the bulky Capacitor.

An image of the battery on top of the pi zero w as it sits inside the case when closed. You will notice that it sits just above the large capacitor and well above the Power regulator and CSI connector.

The inside of the back case. Everything scraped off. Since the CR2032 battery cover is slightly thinner than the rest of the case I put a light amount of hot glue the carefully smeared it all over to hold the cover in place but not add thickness to the case.

The outside of the back cover. The screw there is the original screw just completely clipped and glued in place with super glue.

This really helps, thanks! I'm using the same battery so it's great to know that the HDMI and micro USB connectors have to come off.

Do you have any special tips to share about how you removed those connectors? The holes look a bit small for a solder sucker, so I'm assuming wick needs to be used? And do you remember what temperature you set your soldering iron to?

Actually if you take a look at the first pic you'll notice that connector pads are missing. This is because I do need to you the pads after taking them off. So, I just took the easy way out. with a flush cutter I cut the sides of the USB and HDMI connectors and just pulled them off with a pair of pliers. That's why the pads came off as well. I do have a hot air gun for these type of operations, but in this case, why bother :)

That makes sense.

Thank you for posting these pictures, that's a really nice clean job you've done there. I'll definitely be using them as reference for my build!

The HDMI connector has some fine pitch SMT components near it which I was worried about buggering them up by unsoldering them:

Since the HDMI connector is a sacrificial part on this board and wouldn't be reused, I opted for destruction of the connector pins to ease the removal. This way I only had to unsolder the HDMI connector shield from the ground plane of the Pi board.

Held the Pi in a panavise, lots of solder and flux on the HDMI shield, and a pair of needle nose pliers to _very_ gently pull up the connector once it was hot enough. Cleaned up the cut pins with some solder wick (copper braid). The USB connectors were much easier in comparison, but again, plenty of solder and flux made it easier to get them off. IIRC, my soldering iron was set to 800 degrees F.

FWIW, I've tried a uxcell 600mAh 503040 that was previously available in the US via Prime. I had to thin out the back side of the case to get it to fit correctly. Seems like a 5mm thick battery is pushing it a bit too far. The Adafruit 500mAH 503035 was also a bit of a squeeze.
I finally received today from China a Liter 482953 850mAH @diko_d already confirmed working and also a Liter 452855 1000mAH battery. I'll try the larger battery out this week and see if it's too long.
