[Solved] Gem L/R Button issue
[Solved] Gem L/R Button issue
Hey Kite,
I just added some L/R buttons:
- measured the buttons to the pads on the gem
- measured L to Pi pin 27 (ID_SD??)
- measured R to Pi pin 15 (GPIO 22)
- L pad goes to ground when L button is pressed
- R pad goes to ground when R button is pressed
- pin 27 goes to ground when L button is pressed
- pin 15 goes to ground when R button is pressed
L button can be mapped, R button cant.
Any idea ?

Re: Gem L/R Button issue
If you have the exact same problem my guess is a software issue
I already resoldered the PI pins a few times, reflowed everything with a heat gun, removed the connector and used the pins out of desperation ^^

Okay, maybe it's not just me then. I can't get R to work either, I was going to use the surface pads rather than the JST connector once I had more time to fiddle. L works just fine.

Re: Gem L/R Button issue
Ah hmm, let me look in to this!
EDIT: According to the code it is using GPIO22, I'll need to do some more digging tonight and I'll update

Re: Gem L/R Button issue
Just to update, I haven't solved the issue but it is def 100% a software thing. For example if you run "sudo gpio readall" it will show all the GPIO states, and GPIO22 toggles as expected, but software isn't picking it up.. haven't found the cause yet but might take a little bit longer as it wasn't as simple as I had hoped!

Re: Gem L/R Button issue
Found the issue! I have updated the software only (haven't uploaded a new image yet) so you can get the fix by following the update instructions: https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Ge ... re-updates
If anyone here could report back if it worked I would appreciate it

Re: Gem L/R Button issue
Great! I have put a new image up too! If you've done the 'update' then there's no need to re-image
