[Solved] Circuit Gem - Saturated Sound

Post by Atijp » Sun Mar 10, 2019 4:34 am

Hi,
I just finished building my GEM circuit and since version 1.1 the R1 button is working (great!).
Here is my current problem: whatever the volume selected, the output is always at maximum. I had tested its resistance (9 ohms).
I did a little video of my heavy metal Gem:

Thx

Could you check the BLUE pads in the diagram https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Ge ... successful they perhaps need some re-working

Also once you've done that, try a fresh imaged SD card and make no changes, just to rule out any software issue

thank you Kite, I thought I had checked all the pads ... but the AUD LRCLK - ZB was not good. :D

Had exactly the same issue. In my case it was a bad connection to Pin Y. All fixed now.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having the same issue on my new Circuit Gem board. I have tried everything: checked speaker resistance, solder points, voltage, fresh image and different speakers.

Everything seems fine but I still get crackling/saturated sound and speaker gets too hot after a while. In addition to this, the sound is really loud even if I decrease the volume. The only difference volume control makes is if I lower it all the way down to 0, then I just get no sound.

Is anyone else having these issue and if yes, how you resolved them? Thanks!
