I have never managed to make samba work out of the box with windows 10... maybe because of their residential network stuff that i never activate lol

Ahh, I'm on Windows 7 and its as easy as opening an explorer window and navigating to //retropie/

I usually do that to dump some roms on there before following your power guide to kill off samba.

yeah networking was a breeze with xp and seven (not vista lol) but with ten you must set up a residential network or homegroup, i do,'t know how you call that in english... it's a stuff like the easy file sharing stuff where you have zero control and don't know what's happening... at home i cannot manage to have a decent network because of the different machines/os i have...

If you type "Sharing" once pressing the windows key in 10 you jump to the sharing settings from there you can choose to manage sharing via username/password rather than using windows' homegroup crap, that should take care of some SMB issues, especially when using non windows OSes.
