[SOLVED] No Sound from MintyPi

Hey,

Im having an issue and wanted to know if anyone has and idea what could be wrong.
Just finished my first mintyPi (will be posting to show off corner when finished :) ) and I seem to be having issue with the sound.

I have checked the wires using a multimeter, i had an issue that the green and white data cables on the pi were bridged, I have cleaned this and re-soldered them.

I am still getting no sound in menus or in games. How would i prove the speaker works?
And i forgot to test my USB DAC before removing the jack soldered to it. I have spares but wanted to rule out everything before dismantling and replacing.

Also how can i verify that the rasperrypi is seeing my USB audio DAC?

Any help is much appreciated!

I think you can type lsusb into the terminal and it should show the connected usb devices. If you have a pare speaker you can wire it up and see, just to rule out the speaker. But it is likely a wiring issue.

Post some close up pics of the wiring, maybe someone can spot an issue.

Here are the photos attached. Not great focus when zoomed in, but my soldering definitely looked better from further away.

I just connected in via putty and got this response

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 08bb:2704 Texas Instruments Audio Codec
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Still looks like you have a bridge between the white and green wires on the pi. You said you cleaned that up. Was the photo before or after that? I'm not sure what the name of the sound card will be so that lsusb TI audio codec might be the one. I don't have my minty pi at the moment to confirm.

Yeah ive snipped the wires back and redid the green and white solders again, new photo attached.

Interestingly a USB DAC spare plugged in works fine with headphones.
Tried soldering a new speaker but no luck, going to get the card out of the tin to make it easier.
So far all continuity tests and wires seem fine, still no sound though

Also, be careful of that white wire. Make sure no solder is bridged with the small hole directly beside it, hard to see if there is a bridge in the photo.

Hey,
Checked definitely not bridged there. Tried a fresh SD card just incase i messed with any settings.
To rule out the DAC i used a good DAC that worked with headphones and wired up a speaker still no sound on PC or Raspberry Pi now. Got new USB wire and rewired to a 3rd speaker. Cant see what im doing wrong. It looks like on the updated parts video Wermy bridged different pads on the DAC. Is mine correct??

I also found this command which looks like the raspberry pi is seeing my DAC, how would i find out if my speaker works without wiring it to the DAC ?

aplay -l
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: DAC [USB Audio DAC], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]

Wiring seems okay. But it still looks like the white wire is making contact with the ground hole on the pcb (directly beside it).
