You need to solder 6x6x8 tactile buttons:

I know you said you used 6mm x 6mm x 8mm switches but the closest thing I could find on amazon are 6 x 6 x 9mm switches and caps. Also coming from amazon would be so much quicker than from China.
Ahhhh. Good point. The search for the perfect buttons continues...
