Please Update Your Account to Enable 3rd Party Hosting?
All I see for some photos that are posted on this website is this:
Is there a way that I can see these photos? Do I have to install a plugin?

I'm pretty sure this just means the original poster is using photobucket and doesn't have their account set up for posting direct URLs externally (i.e on forums like this). I've never used photobucket before though so I could be wrong.

Photobucket has removed the ability to externally link as a free service. Going forward the only way to enable their stored images into sig files and posts is to subscribe to the service

For $400 a year?! I went to the website and made an account, then it automatically took me to a page where it wanted me to give them $400 for a subscription. So I'm guessing they want the site admin to pay that to enable it for the entire site.

There are so many alternatives. I'm using https://imgbb.com/ for instance.

No. They want individual users to pay it. Sudomod can't do anything. If I have a photobucket account and pay $400, my images will show up, but yours still won't.

this plague is ripping through forums, especially on older HOWTO posts where the original posters may not even be active anymore.
sure quite a lot of forums don't have image hosting but this one does :/ just makes it doubly annoying.
I suppose the only way to fix it if the poster doesn't know, or care is for an admin to go photobucket and and individually download and convert to a sudomod hosted pic. that of course has its own problems... time, copyright etc.

Re: Please Update Your Account to Enable 3rd Party Hosting?
Someone has developed a plugin to let you view embedded Photobucket images again:
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... src=search
Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... jjgj?hl=en
It's probably not a permanent fix, since Photobucket will almost certainly plug the loophole that's being exploited, but it works for now.

nice, but from the update history, it looks like an arms race between the plugin developer and photobucket
edit: can confirm... (chrome) plugin works a treat
