It's different from Smoki's, but I got my screen from Adafruit. It fits very well if you aren't afraid of removing bits from the case. Hopefully I'll be finishing my build soon, I'll post pics and a write up after I do.
That looks like it is the same display I got, just Ardafruit branded and with unnecessary stuff on it :)
It is indeed perfect for the build, you can find a similar one on Aliexpress searching for: "IPS 1.54 inch SPI 262K COG TFT LCD Screen with Adapter Board ST7789V Drive IC 240*240".

I am currently moving, so I made no real progress on the modules :( I will get back to it as soon as we are done, I still have quite a few VMU's and parts here :)

@ThompsonTinkers
I like the IR module idea, would be a great little programming project!

@nilly , Strider
I had to cut quite a lot of case to get the display aligned - it sitz veeery close to the buttons. I even had to cut one side of the Dpad because that would have touched the display - but it works and you cannot see it when it is closed!

Thanks for the reply! I hope your move goes smoothly.

What size battery are you using? I got my 350mah in today and it still doesn't fit, I need a few more mm.

I wanted to fit the ACCU-LP453350 (800) in but it is a little bit too thick.
The ACCU-LP44345 (750) is a better fit. You will need a lot of case work on the back side and a fully stripped pi to make it fit though
The ACCU-LP403035 (400) is a pretty safe bet

Hoo boy, I can't seem to find any of the 400mah in the states. Hello China! If it means I don't have to settle for 100mah then it's worth the wait. And 4mm is the perfect thickness.

Thanks again!

Hi, just got a vmu in the mail and is about to gather other parts for a build. Where did you find that display PhenQ? Looks really good, do you have a link?

Thanks

Progress :)

- Screens arrived (240x240!)
- They actually fit with just a bit of case modifications
- 2 Pi's stripped in anticipation
- Still waiting for lipo chargers/boosts and the button PCB's
- Have to figure out the driver for the board on the weekend
- I want to get the display about 0.5mm lower, then it would be a perfect fit

Once all parts are there it shouldn't take long to complete. I decided to use JST connectors on wires that can be hidden in the cap instead of a header, not enough room.

Did you ever finish this project? I know it is labeled abandoned but it looks like it was nearly done.
