Can no longer access the gem menu using the power switch

Managed to get the menu to work to enable the keyboard and setup wifi but since then the gem will just power off when i toggle the power switch. It no longer brings up the gem menu regardless of what menu i'm currently in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
