About to call it quits

Post by dklutie24 » Tue Jan 10, 2017 11:09 pm

Really stuck

Was having problems with the usb hub and decided to get rid of it and just get a new one. The Pi started randomly restarting after a couple tries with the hub. The controller presses then started to turn off the pi and now if I connect the teensy to a computer just to test if it still works it doesn't. I don't know if it somehow got fried. I tried reflashing and looked for shorts. Nothing is working. Super frustrated that everything is falling apart at the finish line. Need some help!

Can you post some photos of your wiring? Sounds like you may have a short.

It's all mounted. I'm not sure why it's happening. All the solder ends are sitting on electrical tape and is mounted to the 3D printed screw brackets. The PCB usually has electrical tape over solder points and all ends are butted up against the front side of the PCB

I can't help much, things look okay in the photo's. Worst comet to worst you can skip the hub and teensy and just wire the controls to the GPIO pins of the Pi.

This is the second teensy I have had do this. I plug it in and program it. And then test it a few times. After like the third test it just stops working. Don't understand why.

How much space does the teensy have in there when the case is closed? One of my builds kept doing this because there wasn't enough space and the teensy program button was getting pressed making it seem like it was crashing or the USB cable shorting.

I thought there was enough room. Maybe not. Thought the pressed button could be the issue but I thought I reflashed correctly and still didn't work. Tried soldering. Maybe I'm not reflashing correctly?

How do you do that? I have just been hitting the check mark again. Is that not right???

The check mark compiles (doesn't upload).
The arrow compiles + uploads (you want this one)
