Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute

Hei guys A short question. Could any of you please tell me what is the size (thickness) of the screen + display driver board if it's put together with the screen? I'm calculating a few things and that info would mean a lot. I would guess 10mm from the eye, but a measurement would be helpful.

That depends on the screens, if you have no data on the websites, you have to ask the sellers.
There is no "default" thickness.

The screen looks realy great, but what about the power consumption? Does it run with 5V?

Yep, runs on 5V. I was able to power it right from the Pi 2 USB output even. I hooked it up to my variable power supply and it shows about 310mA power draw.

if you had to change the settings for every emulator to make the screen fit, as i had to with my cheap 320x240 screen?

I settled on:

overscan_top=8
overscan_bottom=8
overscan_left=0
overscan_right=0

(left and right don't seem to matter once you set top and bottom). I started with SNES and those settings fit it perfectly top to bottom. There's 1/8" of black on the left and right. I switched to every emulator I have (SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, NES, Atari 2600) and they all have the same fit—looks great!

I have the BW screen sold by touchshop...I ordered it off amazon in the US. It works fine with 5v without any modifications needed so far.

Can anybody help me? Don't have an idea how to connect this model to the RP0

You don't even need the connectors they show if you just solder wires directly to the pins on the Pi and the controller board for your screen.

Man. At first I didn't think it would be worth the price but you've almost got me convinced to drop another ~$100 in this project. I have enough parts and an extra pi0 so I may make a second GBZ with this screen for myself and sell the first one to help cover the cost. Thanks for the videos, pics, and your input!

I've wrote to the company about one question and got a reply within half a day. So I said to try and ask them about driving the display over 5V and the'ye replied today with the information

"
If you want to use 5v, Pls keep L9 short and remove U4.

Important note, After above modifications, The voltage must keep between 5-5.5v..

"

Thanks Cannikin! Really hlepful, especially the screens. I hope mine is as good as yours, or the 40€ were spent in vain.

If you have the single row headers form the essentials kit, I recommend soldering the wires to those and then just put the pins into the holes. This way you can always easily change anything until you are sure. If you solder it directly and you made a mistake, desoldering can be a pain.
Just cut those header pins with a knife or pliers.
