Any update here? Would you mind giving us details about your battery? The link in OP does not work anymore...
Also, might be me being thick, but I can't find your Youtube videos, if you could post a link here that would be nice

The battery is about a 4000mah battery but advertised as 10000mah. The dimensions are 59.87 x 49.27 x 9.88. It is the same battery I used for my last gameboy build.
pics of the battery itself and fitment.

I went searching around again for a battery. The closest I can come to without asking for a custom battery again is this one.

Re: Chedda's #3 gameboy pi build
Thanks for the infos so far. I am currently waiting for a Zero and Zero W to be delivered, then I will take some more measures. So far the Pi3 seems to be taking between ~400mA (playing Super Mario and Tetris on Gameboy) and ~500mA (Mariokart64). GB reading was about an hour, 64 reading was only 20 minutes. Idle in Retropie menu was ~260mA. Idle without, playing with Xbox360 controller dongle attached.
Anyway, those numbers seem reasonable to me for the Pi3 to work with a 3000mAh battery, now I am waiting for the screen...
That 3000mAh battery looks good, definitly considering it (haven't ruled out the 2x18650 idea yet, not sure about the space though... I am using quite a few of these in various flashlight, they pack quite a punch and are quite easy to handle).

Hi @Chedda,
I really like your build so far and your part list and videos are really handy (I'm planning to do the same with a pi zero).
But, there is one thing that i miss in your list (or I'm just too blind to see it), where do you find/buy the rubber thingies for the 3th & 4th button? And are the aliexpress lithium batteries safe (and really 3000mAh)?

I bought extra pads when I bought the hard buttons. I messaged the seller for more.The_Ginger wrote:Hi @Chedda,

If the batteries have the safe charging board, sure it will be safe enough. The ones without I would be very wary of them. It's hard to go higher than 3000mAh for the size. I would need to do a power draw and battery depletion test to figure its real mAh.The_Ginger wrote: And are the aliexpress lithium batteries safe (and really 3000mAh)?

Re: Chedda's #3 gameboy pi build
@Chedda so you haven't had any issues with powering the pi3 properly with the powerboost 1000c? I thought it could only supply 1A. I thought the pi3 required more than that.

It powers it up and keeps it going. The problem I have experienced relating to power is having usb ports or adapters not supplying enough power. It gets super glitchy.
