mintyPi 3D-Printed Parts
Hey guys,
I'm taking orders for the 3D-printed parts to put together the mintyPi project! I have both the 2.4" screen versions for the sets that Helder is selling, as well as 2.2" versions if you happened to get ahold of the 2.2" screen I was using early on and are happy with that size.
The main kit comes with all 3D-printed parts you need for the case, including the necessary screws: Colors available are Peppermint (red), Spearmint (green), Cinnamon (maroon) and Wintergreen (teal), and now Black and now Black and Clear as well!
(the image below shows an older version of the models, which didn't have the logo yet)
The colored parts are printed in PLA from Push Plastic, and the black parts (which need to be tougher) are printed in a polycarbonate/PBT blend also from Push Plastic (they may look a little rougher, but they are covered by the colored pieces) UPDATE: Push Plastic has been having a hard time sourcing the raw materials for the PC/PBT blend I typically use. I did some testing with one of their ABS blends and found that it was pretty robust in terms of not stripping when screws are inserted/removed, so I'm using that for the time being. As a bonus, it prints quite a bit cleaner, too!
I'm aiming to ship these out around the same time that Helder starts shipping his sets in a few weeks.
Price is $30 + shipping/paypal fees (this covers your paypal buyer protection). I looked at services like Shapeways, and they were asking for upwards of $40 for the whole set, so that price wasn't pulled from thin air. These take several prints from multiple types of filament, so they take quite a bit of effort to put together!
There may be a bit of sanding/filing required on a couple spots to make them feel nice with your buttons! There is an annoying amount of variability in radius between button sets from different manufacturers, so if they are too narrow for your buttons you may need to sand the button holes out a bit, and the button wells may need a bit of filing to keep the buttons from catching on them. It only takes a few minutes, and isn't always necessary, I just wanted to make sure to point it out. I'll show how to do it in the video guide soon.
Paypal buttons are over on the market:

Edit: Fixed the market link.

Re: [Pre-order] mintyPi 3D-Printed Parts
This part is optional, but very helpful! I will show how/where to cut holes for your micro USB charging port, power switch and L/R buttons. But if you'd like to make it a little more foolproof this guide helps a lot: snap it to the bottom of an altoids tin and mark exactly where you need to drill/file. Easy-peasy.
As with the main kit, I aim to have this shipped around the same time Helder starts shipping his button PCB/screen sets.

Re: [Pre-order] mintyPi 3D-Printed Parts
These are DS Lite buttons (with conductive membranes) that will work great with the mintyPi project!
Available in white and black. These should ship around the same time that Helder starts shipping his parts.
$6 + shipping/paypal fees. Links/paypal fees on the market!

Nice! I just finished checkout for Helder's boards and saw this. Got my order in, thanks Wermy!
Will there be another kit for the smaller bits we'll need, like the power switch, shoulder switches and dslite buttons/pads?

Thanks. Bought one. There was no option for shipping though. Was the shipping included in the $30?

Shipping is added at checkout, it was $5 for U.S. I'm not sure what the charge is for international.

Thx Wermy! As mentioned above by rodocop, there was no option for shipping, already included or to be calculated later?
I thought this too but wasn't sure if that was a US tax included or something else ... suspect international shipping would cost more
