Wiring mini HDMI in
Wiring mini HDMI in
Are we able to wire a mini HDMI port instead of using the port on the board itself? I don't have much room to fit the port next to the contrast window so i want to know if i can just get a standalone mini hdmi port and wire it to a pad or two on the pi zero since that would be a lot easier than forcing it to fit by cutting the case more.

They exist, but they aren't exactly small. It's about a square inch/2.5cm

Can i not just desolder the mini hdmi on the zero board and extend it to the same traces with some wire? Does it really need a board like that?Popcorn wrote:They exist, but they aren't exactly small. It's about a square inch/2.5cm

Re: Wiring mini HDMI in
Not unless you literally had a stereoscopic microscope. If you look at the micro HDMI port, just think that there are 20+ pins in there. That's why the breakout board is so big.

Ohh had no idea there were so many pins...i mean there are that many pins on regular HDMI so i guess that's how they cut down the size to mini and micro ports.Popcorn wrote:Not unless you literally had a stereoscopic microscope. That what i'm thinking is the best option if i have room.Fox wrote:Couldn't you do something like this? :

I found this guy here: http://www.usbfirewire.com/parts/rr-5s-5f-xxg.html
Smallest length i can find. Then i would cut down the plastic enclosure around the female port and the wire itself and hope it's a flexible enough wire to not give me much trouble.

Ohhhhhhhh that looks like exactly what i need!!! Is it mini HDMI male to female on both ends though? The title is vague and i can't make out the connector...i'll just expand the contrast window if it is hdmi but this should work perfectly! Thank you!~Harm wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-15cm-Mini-R ... 2087406747
