Hello sudoers,
I finally joined the MintyPi family.
Helder kindly sent me a kit so i can try my GBZ optimisations on it and try to extend battery life and save SD card's life
A warm thanks to Helder for this and also to Wermy for the 3D prints.
I read a lot about the MintyPi but have it in my hands is another thing and i am completely amazed by the job that both of them has done. And to not forget anyone, HoolyHoo's scripting skills are amazing too, the mode button is very useful although i would really have appreciate a "real time" battery monitoring and not based on steps.
That said, this post is the show off and the special thanks one, and i'll open up another one for my battery testing and optimisations testing.
Nothing new here except that i have put a small copper heatsink to allow cooling, it's obviously not an extra efficient addition but it will help a bit.
The most difficult part was the tin drilling... The 3D guide helps a lot and i have only used a Dremel and worked very slowly to take small amounts at a time.
I am using 3M adhesive thermal pad which seems to be very efficient (bought on amazon and with very good feedback)
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00BMM ... UTF8&psc=1
I have used a small 15x15mm*0.1 pure copper plate bought on ali
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10PCS-0 ... 23737.html
The result is perfectly aligned with the highest parts of the pi so closing the tin won't be a problem.
You can see with the face plate screwed down that i still have a slight space for ventilation, that's a good point.
The internals
I didn't used silicon wires because i don't have small ones (i'm only using 10AWG wires for my RC cars so i don't have smaller)
I instead have used PVC cables which are way too hard to bend. I struggled to close the tin lol.
But finally, the result is fine enough for now.
The holes
They are not very perfect and i am a bit disappointed despite of all the time i have token to drill them.
I have markup leftovers around the switch that i cannot remove, i will try some pure alcohol to try to remove them.
The mode button.
Made from a standard 6x6x9mm tactile switch leftover from my GBZ. I have cut the up of the switch to make it as flush as possible with the front plate but still usable.
The finish product.

Placeholder.
I will describe here how i’m going to use optical cable to show charging led status and pi’s status. That way, i will have a visual indication of everything.

Re: One more MintyPi :D
I have already noticed like other people did that i have the screen freezing while the sound is still playing.
I’m gonna have a look to this too. I have read that this is due to overclocking but i do not see any reasons for that except the special code added to make the MintyPi run (HoolyHoo’s script or other, didn’t took a look yet)

Re: One more MintyPi :D
I had the same issues and thought it was resolved after I removed the overclock. The other night it froze even with the over clock off. So yeah...could be another issue. I will need to play more to see how often it occurs.YaYa wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2017 5:57 amI have already noticed like other people did that i have the screen freezing while the sound is still playing.

PS, nice work. It looks great!
