2nd Build (Super Famicom Controller Inspired).

Post by jakejm79 » Sun Dec 17, 2017 12:46 pm

So this is my 2nd build, I was attempting to use as minimal amount of hot glue as necessary:
Pi Zero W
3500 mAh battery (Galaxy SII high capacity)
Powerboost 1000C
I2S Amp (volume control via software)
HoolyHoo's SNES Plus screen bracket
Mini JST Connectors (to allow for both halves to be completely separated and easily but back together)
Genuine Super Famicom ABXY buttons
Common ground button PCB connected via GPIO pins
3.5" BW Screen
Custom GBZ Glass Screen Protector
HDMI out via original volume slot
Original style DC jack in original place
mSD card access via original contrast slot
Full sized USB socket directly wired to Pi Zero

Came out not bad I think, had to use a little hot glue to hold the rear shoulder buttons, headphone jack and speaker but other than that its all brackets or HD double sided tape.

To cut out the screen opening I drilled holes in the corners and then used a plastic cutter to score the straight lines.
Had to remove one of the middle case screw posts on the screen bracket to allow for the HDMI extension cable.

Also I want to say thanks to:
@HoolyHoo for making and sharing the STL files for his great brackets
@TinkerBOY for the easy GPIO control script/tutorial
@YaYa for an extensive post of all the little tweaks
and
@AJRedfern for a great splash screen

Thanks, hopefully this work:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/FPV-Mic ... 80742.html

I used the 100mm (10cm) cable, C1 and C4 for the connectors.

I did realize an issue, due to having to rotate the screen (so the ribbon cable comes out the top) so editing the config, it now means the HDMI display is upside down. Does anyone know of a way to have it pick certain configs based on HDMI or composite output?

Nice. That needs a nice build log down in the other projects showoff section.
