@nick_stubbings There is no battery charging on this board. It simply keeps the power on until the Pi shuts down. There is an interface for the low battery pin on the PowerBoost, but nothing fancy going on. Have you followed the wiring diagram? Please post a clear picture of your wiring if you can. If you have wired to non-default pins, please remember to change the script to use these pins.

Hi, i meant the powerboost doing the charging as it does in my other GBZ.

I have the wiring exactly the same as the first diagram on this post, except the TFT i have uses the first 26 GPIO pins.
So Im using BCM5 (Low), BCM6 (off), BCM13 (on) and pin 1 for 3.3v.

This gives me a white screen i can ssh into. If i remove the line from /boot/config.txt "dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff:gpiopin=22,active_low="y"" it starts fine but the switch seems to be working as a normal on/off switch (a noisy on/off switch)
do i need to assign a different GPIO pin? im at a loss here

If i leave the line in and SSH in, i can change the script but it doesnt seem to make any difference. The problem is that around 90% of changes i make to files on the SD card dont seem to stick. and when they do they still dont work. Im going to check the memory card for issues because it doesnt like making changes in windows either... hmm..

This is how the python script looks:
powerGPIO = 5 # GPIO BCM 27 / Physical Pin 13
batteryGPIO = 6 # GPIO BCM 17 / Physical Pin 11 (Set to None if not required)
keepAliveGPIO = 13 # GPIO BCM 22 / Physical Pin 15 (/boot/config.txt will be edited automatically)

is this correct?

Please keep in mind im new to linux and to a lesser degree raspberry pi...

@nick_stubbings You will need the dtoverlay line in config.txt to point to whichever pin you are using for the keepalive. If you have removed the dtoverlay line from config.txt, the script should add it back in with the correct pin when you first run the script. See the readme here for more details

having dug a little further i have a strong suspicion that my PowerBoost is faulty, when i add a usb port (gnd and USB pins i get an orange light as normal, but the small chip next to the mini usb port gets incredibly hot immediately.

im trying to sort out a replacement but ive had to wait for other components since January... the saga continues...

OK, Progress... i think...

changing gpio from 22 to 13 in /boot/config.txt seems to allow booting, but the power still doesn't switch off... how long should i expect it to take with a 2500mah battery at say, 50% charge?

As i suspected, the tft is only running because /boot/config.txt is not referencing GPIO 22 anymore. does anyone have any ideas why this is the case? when i get a few days ill sort out a wiring diagram (i suspect its fine and its a software issue but you never know!)
