Setting the system volume to 100% and when we back out of the menu, it resets it to 0%. Is there any way to fix this and stop this from happening? Are there any other reasons that would cause the MintyPi to have no sound??
Thanks!

Re: Speaker system - no sound
I don't know the cause but it's usually software related, when I had this happen I just redid the whole SD card image again and all was good.

Re: Speaker system - no sound
in the latest build guide, the speaker is connected directly to the front side of the board on SPK+ and SPK-, then the sound card is connected to the AUD In and AUD Gnd pads on the back of the board. On the sound card is there still a small jumper wire that needs to be installed between C1 and the pin right next to it (shown at 12:27/15:48 in the latest build guide) where the speaker would be connected to if it weren't directly connected to the front side of the board?
Also, every time we try to set the system volume slider up from 0% to say 100% in the settings it resets back to 0% when we close out of the settings. We go back into the settings menu and the system volume is set back to 0%. Is this the issue or is the wiring on the soundcard the issue? We could rip the whole thing apart and directly connect the speaker to the soundcard as you have shown at 12:27/15:48 in the latest build guide, but we thought we would see if you could help give us an answer before we had to do that. Thanks for your help. Everything works now except the sound, but we would really like to get this working. Is there a way to troubleshoot to determine if it a software or a hardware issue, or a wiring issue?

Re: Speaker system - no sound
I don't know if it's a hardware things since I redid the software and it fixed it for me, but I could be wrong. Best bet is do the software part and remove the hardware then mess with audio settings and see if it acts the same. If it's good then install hardware but leave wiring out to the pcb and test again if good then test the speaker and pcb install. Something somewhere will be the issue.

Re: Speaker system - no sound
Do you have pics of the wiring of your sound card. That issue is seen when the USB sound card is not detected. (In my experience)
Being able to see the data and power connections to the pi and sound card, as well as the speaker will be helpful.
Also, when starting the minty pi, do you see the splash screen video, and get any sound? If you do not see the splash video that you can assume the usb card is not being detected, and it is likely a wiring issue, or the card is damaged.

What was your monitor cable issue? Was it similar to this? https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=6480

Re: Speaker system - no sound
I know this is an old thread, but I had this same thing happen to me and it was due to short on the sound card. When I had snipped off the port with a pair of cutter, I had accidentally cut into the board and exposed some metal which shorted out one of the connections because my solder joined to it as well.
