SNES Emu on TPP Not working

I am struggling to get SNES emulation to work on my TinyPi Pro. Opening a SNES rom will instantly close the emu and send me back to the rom selection screen without opening. I am baffled by this, since I have seen SNES work fine (Examples are Wermy and Pi0cket), but mine just crashes. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

When retropie does this it's usually an indication that there's something wrong with the rom or the emulator isn't configured correctly (for example if you try to load a GBA rom without the bios present it will do this). What format is the rom you're trying to load? It should be either a .smc file or an smc file inside of a zip archive.

My test file is Donkey Kong Country in .smc file format

Very strange. Do other systems work? If so is there sound? I'm wondering if maybe your sound isn't working and that's causing an issue.

GBA, MD, NES, Atari, and GBC work with no issues. only SNES doesnt work
