The pocket adventure SPI adapter is meant specifically for the 3.2" SPI screens. As mentioned from Veteran, you will not find a 3.5" screen that works with that board. The 3.2" screens are totally fine though, and I have used them in a few builds.

something to keep in mind with the spi screens - many of those are meant to be mounted vertically, so their viewing angle in a gbz, horizontal mount isn't ideal and gives a weird, polarizing effect when you tilt the gameboy left and right. the one linked in veteran's post probably doesn't have the issue, since it's touted as "superwide" angle, so look for that or "full" angle, to try and avoid that.

yes, they work fine together, just follow the guides on the site to hook it up, and to get the software going and you should be good. or, there are alternate ways to set up the software/driver side here in the forums as well.

the spi is a little smaller than the screen border, so I found that the backlight will shine through, around the edges, unless you either use a bracket that covers it (the models on the pocketadventure site don't), or put some tape around it. (oh, and also, make sure you use the correct screen bracket.)

here's a couple i just did with the assist board and spi screens. the black one on the left has electrical tape to mask the backlight, and you can see it leaking through. the one on the right i modified the bracket so that it covered up the front (but i need to adjust my model to make it easier to work with for the next one i do with those - it was awkward to get it in place).

without anything covering it, the light is quite bright around the edge.

a 3.2" LCD is going to be completely visible with those screen surrounds....
especially the white boarders of the housing.....

heres how a 3.2" board will look (you can notice the size difference)

one option will be to either colour in or mask the white plastic of the LCD housing....
or
as the screen surround you have is black...
get some black insulation/electrical tape and extend those boards on the glass (its only by a few mm on each side)

or you could try the 3.5" LCD, which will be ideal for the surrounds you have
(but they are NOT drop in for the case/shells, both the LCD and the case/shell will need to be modified for the LCD to fit)

this 3.5" LCD seem like a good option

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-2-3-5 ... st=ae803_4

i personally haven't tried it, as I've been using the Waveshare 3.5" LCD....
but its claims to be a decent LCD, especially for the price
(and you don't have to worry about a board as it is already attached to one... but will need to be modified)

NB: all these LCD use pretty much the same GPIO (be it 2.4",2.8",3.2" and even the 3.5")

one more thing to note (again, as it is stated above), the 3.5 tft isn't available (afaik) in the 18-pin variety that the spi assist board uses, so if you want to use that, you are capped at 3.2.

the gpioassist (again, afaik) would probably work with either, if you have a different way to hook up one of the 3.5 / 40 pin ones - you are just limited to the pins it already left open for the spi adapter, and a couple other ones.

thank you very much for your feedback to you both

@VeteranGamer or @infinitLoop, if i don't use the SPI Adapter and 3.2" screen, you think i can wire your 3.5" version and use the GPIO Assist - Ultra ?
