simplyRetro Z5 - A Raspberry Pi Zero 5 inch handheld

Post by Geaz » Mon Jun 10, 2019 6:59 am

Hi!

I am reading in this forum for quite a while now and I thought I could start my presence here with the presentation of my first self designed retro handheld :)

In the last few months I designed a custom shell for a 5 inch retro handheld and designed the internals.
I called it the "simplyRetro Z5".

Front:

Internals:

It features:
  • Custom 3D printed shell
  • Single press power on and long press power off
  • Battery Monitor icon and safe shutdown
  • Stereo Speakers, Audio Jack and Volume Control
  • 12 Buttons
  • 5 inch display
  • Raspberry Pi Zero powered
Everything is released on Thingiverse and Github.

Tomorrow I will try to create a video of it in action.
I hope you like it :)

Best regards
Geaz

Good question, I always forget the banana for scale ;)

The overall dimension are 210mm (width) x 100mm (height) x 22mm (thickness)

Definitely interested in the fast boot setup you got.

That shell looks phenomenal, and I'm not even a huge fan of orange. Well done!
