Full VGA resolution (640x480) 3.5" display, composite in
Re: Full VGA resolution (640x480) 3.5" display, composite in
I just put in a offer on ebay for one of these. I've read through the thread - but still wondering - what was the best way, in the end, to wire it up?
For power - directly to powerboost or to pi?
For video - VGA or Com?

Composite for video, directly to powerboost for power, imo.Lanceomni wrote:I just put in a offer on ebay for one of these. I've read through the thread - but still wondering - what was the best way, in the end, to wire it up?

I have the ebay screen coming.
From pictures it looks like the controller board takes up the entire width of the dmg case. Are you guys foregoing the screw posts on top?
Also is anyone using a custom button board or are you just adjusting the settings ahead of time and leaving it out? Does that screen come on when power is applied? Does it automatically switch to composite in if no other input signals are detected?

Yes, it is a tight fit and eats up all the space that is left there. I added the screwposts above the screen and made holes behind the cartridge. See my buildthread for pictures http://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic. ... =896#p9038jeffy1021 wrote:I have the ebay screen coming.

I soldered on the connector ribbon for the button board. The connector is in the battery compartment and I can just plug in the button board and change the settings as needed. But I didn't need to as of now. Also is anyone using a custom button board or are you just adjusting the settings ahead of time and leaving it out?
The screen switches to the composite with active video signal, it doesn't matter which one you use. Don't know if it comes on with only power but no source.Does that screen come on when power is applied? Does it automatically switch to composite in if no other input signals are detected?

Can someone get a shot of the controller board inside the gameboy case? Curious to see how tight it fits.

It's not really "tight" in that you need to push on it to lay it on top of the screen, but it's definitely as close to the edge of the case as possible. There's still the space between the buttons/button board though. Basically as perfect a fit as you can get without having to dremel useless bits of board off of it to make it work.username 123 wrote:Can someone get a shot of the controller board inside the gameboy case? I'm interested in finding out what you discover with this screen. Looks like you can get similar on eBay and might buy one for my 2nd project if you have success with it.Cannikin wrote:Ordered! It's shipping from China so it's gonna be a while, but I'll report back with what I find.Cannikin wrote:Found a much cheaper one at $85!

We've actually had wonderful success with it. The similar ones are probably dissimilar in ways that would create frustration. This one runs off 5v so no modifications required and it fits well in the case.Spreken wrote:I'm interested in finding out what you discover with this screen.
