You can always try out to have it powered only by 5v, but then you have to solder.
But you can do as i did and solder them onto those:

I broke a off 1x1 and 1x2, soldered the display on those and just inserted those in the "holes" on the RPi0,
so i could easily remove them if something was not quite right.

Yes, there is, but it would help t see the whole board.

It looks like this one: https://s20.postimg.org/6jvbxrfml/mamo_board_2.jpg
As you can see on my spreadsheet.
But i am not sure, so you should use a multimeter before getting started,
or you will end up like poor 1461748123 here.

Compare the ICs names with the one from my picture guide here,
if those are the same and everything else is in the same place,
you should be fine with following it.
Thank you @Fleder

I've got the same board as you, I soldered a usb to the first 2 points out of the 4 and worked fine off the mains usb. Now I'm trying out my powerboost and now the screen flickers. Here a picture of my setup. I haven't modded the screen. Does it need doing??

You know that when you connect it to the RPi0, you have to connect the power to it, too, or at least have the same GND, right?

Yes I was running off a 5v phone charger plug. The board looks the same as yours.
First picture it works off a 5v and plugged into my pitendo

I think I have the exact same screen. At least the board looks the same.
I haven't tried yet whether it works off of 5V without any soldering or whether it runs with a battery. Using a 12V/2A power supply however works, not surprisingly, without any problems.

Mine is now working off battery without any mods done. After my partner wiggled some of the wires, the screen went funny colours and now it works. Must be my dodge soldering lol.
