Out of curiosity, are you programming using the arduino bootloader or directly through the icsp header?

I check and program with the ISP then I test it once programmed with USB. These chips are not being recognized in AVR Dude as a known chip and I tired it in various clocks and in good known boards. I'm talking to the seller right now but anything to resolve the problem will be a good week in.

Ouch Really sorry to read this. Just joined this forum for this project, and your controller PCB is what convinced me to do this and nice and polished. I do some work on the side with a couple guys, and we've been burned a few times by components from China unfortunately (we sometimes have to resort to sending them the components we want so they don't source crap locally.) Most of the time it works out, but not always.

If you have any to sell that have all the parts minus the Atmel chip, I don't care soldering it all myself and sourcing my own chip.

In any case good luck, following this to see what happens, hope it all turns out ok (also selfishly as I really want one )

Thats a real shame Helder! Appreciate all the work youre doing on this. Finally got my gbz put together yesterday but somehow my usb hub stopped working. Very much looking forward to getting one of your boards.

I dont mind chipping in a couple of dollars to help cover the cost of the faulty chips as well. Don't want you left out of pocket. Hopefully theyll refund you!

Welll seems like I got fucked on the atmega chips I bought 100 of. The old 5 I had work great but these new ones don't recognize or program, and I tried everything but the boards only work with my older chips so I'm not sure what to do now since I don't have the chips to finish the boards.

Wow. The things you have to put up with, just... Wow. I can't believe you are doing this. So many Kudos's to you.


I have been wondering, what exactly do you do? Do you have a company populate the board for you, or do you solder everything in by yourself? Also, don't want to sound needy, but expected time until you have the boards able to sell? Again, you are the man, or should I say, MEGA man? No?

I'll be buying a usb hub all in one unit once they are up and good to go, I don't mind soldering components on if need be. Sorry to hear bout the chips, I've worked with them a bit and have come to know that some batches made can be faulty.

Helder, I've only just started to be a part of this community by it's clear you're a big part of it. Thank you for everything you do and will continue to do for all of us around here.

As a side note, don't feel like you need to eat the cost of the mistake by yourself, I'm more than happy to compensate you for your time and efforts in the cost of my board to make my life easier when building my own GBz. Like it's been mentioned before, your boards are what convinced me to do this project, so I very much appreciate all your time and efforts to make sure it's done right.
